Through our CSR strategy we have implemented a number of improvements across the company, including:
Head Office Carbon Footprint analysis – this was completed during the summer of 2011 and is helping to guide improvements in our day to day business operations.
Green Procurement Project – with the help of Wren & Bell Engineers we have made good progress in engaging with all of our suppliers in relation to this project. The responses we have received will be used to form a Green Procurement Policy.
Site Waste Reduction – through working with Scottish Enterprise we undertook a site waste reduction project on our housing site in Largs, The Rise. The results of this were extremely impressive with an achievement of 95% reduction of waste going to landfill.
We have since rolled out these improvements across all of our sites with similar success.
Employee Engagement Forums - In 2014 employees met in forums to discuss their experiences of working for Mactaggart & Mickel Homes , from procedures and communications to inclusion and work/life balance. Further to these sessions, a number of people volunteered from across the organisation and five Employer of Choice teams were formed following a number of meetings. Ideas for quick wins and longer term solutions were proposed first to the wider teams of volunteers, and then to the Board of directors, who have already approved a number of these for progression
