Mactaggart & Mickel Group is a part of the City Legacy Consortium, and with our partners CCG, Cruden Homes, WH Malcolm and Glasgow City Council we delivered the 2014 Commonweath Games Athletes Village. The project in Dalmarnock, on the banks of the River Clyde, is a landmark regeneration project for the East End of Glasgow and Scotland as a whole. The Athletes’ Village provided accommodation to 6,500 competitors and officials who gathered in Glasgow for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and is now transformed into a vibrant community hub with housing, amenities and public spaces; a range of two, three and four bedroom apartments and semi-detached and detached homes are available for purchase by local families. Perhaps the largest and most significant construction project in the UK at the moment, construction and project management of the 225 units was overseen by our Contracts Division over 23 months. Contracts successfully handed over the 225 units to the Games Organizing Committee on time in January 2014. The project is testament to the capabilities of our divisions to execute large scale projects within tightly managed time schedules and deliver bespoke solutions to the most challenging of briefs. Since the Commonwealth Games in August 2014, activity has been ongoing for the retrofit of the units into a lively new residential community of homes.
