This 60 acre greenfield site near the Merseyside town of Maghull was secured by Mactaggart & Mickel in 2010. This land was designated as Green Belt.
In June 2011, we submitted representations to Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council seeking to allocate 500 residential homes on the site and secure its release from the Green Belt. The representations also included plans for local food, retail and community facilities in the area. This urban extension would add to the physical and environmental regeneration of Lydiate, increasing housing stock and retail opportunities in the area.
Mactaggart & Mickel intends to conduct a number of meetings with the local community, equipping local shareholders and homeowners with information on the potential development of Lydiate village. Our response ensures all parties are fully aware of any proposed plans and gives them a platform on which to discuss possible advantages and disadvantages to any future development.
Mactaggart & Mickel has continued made further representations to the Sefton Borough Council draft Local Plan throughout the Examination, which now allocates the site as a Preferred Option for Development.
