The proposed development site is located within Bishopbriggs and is a brownfield site situated to the west of Kirkintilloch Road. To the north lies the existing Marley Eternit tile factory, with Crofthead Cottage to the south of the site. Kirkintilloch Road forms the eastern boundary of the site, with areas of vegetation and grassland to the south and west.
There are existing residential properties located further south and the Forth and Clyde Canal runs further west of the site. Cadder Cemetery is located across Kirkintilloch Road to the east with Strathkelvin Retail Park situated beyond the cemetery to the south. Bishopbriggs town centre is located to the south of the site.
The proposed new residential development comprises 53 new dwellings including 12 affordable homes. The homes will comprise apartments, semi-detached and detached homes ranging from 1 to 4-bedroom homes. The access into the site will be taken from Kirkintilloch Road and a significant amount of landscaping will be incorporated within the development, including a play area and attractive SUDS feature. Significant tree planting will be incorporated along the northern boundary of the site adjacent to the existing tile factory.
Representatives from Mactaggart & Mickel and the project team held a Community Consultation on the proposed development onTuesday 2nd October 2018 at Bishopbriggs Community Church, 21 Park Ave, Bishopbriggs, Glasgow G64 2SN, and invited all members of the community to attend.
