The new phase of development is a natural extension to our existing Lethington Gardens development in Haddington, with connected roads and drainage and of course the same education catchment area for the new Primary school.
The site has an overall capacity for 275 homes, which will be delivered by Mactaggart & Mickel and Taylor Wimpey. The range of new Mactaggart & Mickel homes available will be 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom family homes, including 34 affordable homes, with attractive landscaping along the northern boundary.
The new development’s layout has been designed to respect the Letham Burn running along the top of the site with its core path. New cycle and walking routes will connect to the town of Haddington and the new primary school, and a new central green area for leisure and sports facilities will also be provided. Access will also be upgraded with pedestrian links and cycle route along Pencaitland Road to the town centre and a SUDS drainage system will be incorporated to ensure the quality of the water environment is maintained.
Under a Section 75 agreement, funding contributions will also be made by Mactaggart & Mickel towards Education (both Primary and Secondary) as well as leisure and open space – amounts are still to be determined.
Representatives from Mactaggart & Mickel and the project team held a Community Consultation on the proposed development on Thursday 4th October 2018 at Maitland Field Hotel, 24 Sidegate, Haddington EH41 4BZ, and invited all members of the community to attend.
