Prevention of Modern Slavery
Mactaggart & Mickel Group Limited welcomed the introduction of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The purpose of the Act is consistent with our goals and values, such as to be the employer of choice and to ensure our sites are made as safe as possible.
In accordance with s54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 Mactaggart & Mickel Group Limited is required to publish a statement setting out the steps that our organisation has taken during the previous financial year to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place (i) in any of our supply chains and (ii) in any part of our own business.
We value the trusted, long term and collaborative nature of the relationships we have with our supply chain. We expect our suppliers and subcontractors to adhere to and support our goals and values. We endeavour to work with them in a collaborative, open and transparent way. Emphasis on compliance with legislation is an integral part of our selection process of new suppliers.
However, we remain committed to being vigilant to the risks of slavery and trafficking activities and have communicated with our supply chain to ensure all are aware of the purpose of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and their obligations under it. The Modern Slavery Act introduces the criminal offences of slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour, among others. In particular, forced labour has occurred in many areas of the UK economy including trafficking.
