Award wins for Apprentices
It’s a double win for Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ apprentices as Shaun Kennedy and Martin Owen have been recognised amongst the best young talent in the construction industry.
Shaun Kennedy (19), one of our apprentice joiners, left the Scottish Building Apprenticeship and Training Council Apprentice of the Year Awards with the prestigious ‘James Birnie Award for Craft Excellence Apprentice of the Year’.
Held at the Garden Lobby of the Scottish Parliament, the awards celebrate emerging talent from within the industry, recognising outstanding skills and dedication.
Martin Owen (23), one of our apprentice painters, was named regional winner of the ‘Johnstone’s Young Painter of the Year Award’.
This prestigious award celebrates rising talent in painting, highlighting excellence of individuals’ projects and encouraging young people to engage in a career in the painting industry.
Ed Monaghan, chief executive of Mactaggart & Mickel Group, said: “I’d like to congratulate Martin and Shaun, to be recognised and rewarded for your hard work at this young age is outstanding.
“Achievements like these highlight the talents and skills of our young tradespeople. Mactaggart & Mickel Group continually look to nurture and grow the skills of our employees throughout the business, safeguarding the future of our industry.”
Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ site manager, Stuart Gillespie, was also recently named the Supreme Winner in the Medium Builder category at the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards. Shortlisted from over 13,000 site managers across the UK, this accolade is one of the construction industry’s top honours and Stuart, who started as an apprentice with us, has scooped it three times!
