Johnstone Burgh Junior Community Football Club has received a donation of £1,000 from family housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ Building Communities Fund.

The club, which is open to boys and girls of all ages, currently has over 180 local children registered to play. The much needed donation will allow the group to purchase new strips and training kit for all age groups.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has a history of supporting good causes. The Building Communities Fund was created to continue the company’s ongoing efforts to help organisations and projects which enhance the lives of people within their local communities.

The fund is open throughout the year to applications from charities, community groups, sports teams and schools within a five mile radius of any live Mactaggart & Mickel Homes development, such as Midton Fields in Howwood, which is due to be launched this Spring.

Ed Monaghan, Managing Directorof Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, commented: “Johnstone Burgh Junior Community Football Club is a vibrant and growing grassroots football club; theytrain just five minutes away from our new Midton Fields development in Howwood so are practically our neighbours! It gives us great pleasure to help them continue to make a difference to young people in their local community.”

Neil Fowler from Johnstone Burgh Junior Community Football Club added: “We’re really grateful to Mactaggart & Mickel Homes for awarding this funding to our group to purchase new equipment. Many of our players are from areas of deprivation, where extra money for sporting equipment is simply not available so this really does make a meaningful difference to these youngster’s lives.”
