Mac & Mic funding is a lifesaver!
Paisley and District Scouts has received a donation of £1,000 from family housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ Building Communities Fund.
The donation will fund first aid training for 80 boys and girls across Paisley, Barrhead and Neilston who attend local Scout groups. It will cover the cost of learning resources, first aid training equipment and a defibrillator for use in the community. Such training is a vital part of the Scouts’ education programme, delivered by volunteers to equip young people with life skills to help them succeed and make valuable contributions to their community.
Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has a happy history of supporting good causes. The Building Communities Fund was created as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to help organisations and projects which enhance the lives of people within their local communities.
The fund is open throughout the year to applications from charities, community groups, sports teams and schools within a five mile radius of any live Mactaggart & Mickel Homes development like Midton Fields in Howwood.
Alan Hunter, Head of Construction at Mactaggart & Mickel commented: “First aid training is an essential life skill and it is great to see the funding go towards such a worthwhile cause which will not only benefit the Scouts but also the community.
“As a family housebuilder we understand the value of investing in young people and their future skills, and we are proud that our Building Communities Fund allows us to help organisations like the Scouts enrich young people’s lives and give them opportunities to succeed.”
Alyson Sweeney from Paisley and District Scouts added: “A big thank you to Mactaggart & Mickel Homes for this donation which will have such a positive impact. The training will be invaluable for our members and we’ve also earmarked funding to buy a defibrillator, first aid kits, training materials and first aid demonstration mannequins.
