Mactaggart & Mickel Group employees have raised £500 for charity by taking part in a challenging fly fishing event.

The competitive event, which was held at the Bangour Reservoir in West Lothian, last month, saw over 20 experienced anglers cast off as they tried to hook the biggest catch.

Surrounded by picturesque woodland and high farmland, the group of builders and subcontractors, including Pete Shepherd, Stuart Malcolmson, Ronnie Thriepland and Phil McGovern, battled throughout the day to raise funds for our 90th year charity partner, Cancer Research UK.

Steven Holne was crowned the winner with his whopping 12lb 4oz catch, closely followed by an impressive 11lb 8oz by Keith Wilson who also grabbed the title of quickest fish, and Stewart Caird came in third with 10lb 8oz.

Assistant Site Manager of Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, Stuart Malcolmson, said: “We all had a fantastic day – the competitive spirit was definitely in the air!

“I’d just like to say a massive thanks to everyone for digging deep and donating as much as they could.”
