As the year draws to a close and contemplations for New Year’s resolutions begin why not make a new home in Newton Mearns or Dalkeith top of the list.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes are planning to launch two exciting new developments in 2016; the exclusive Red Lion in Newton Mearns and Millerhill in Dalkeith, which is part of the wider development of Shawfair.

Red Lion will feature 17 stunning homes, including the popular three storey Jura townhouse, and the new four-bedroom Inchcolm home. The Inchcolm has been designed specifically for this development in a traditional style over one and a half storeys, with dormer windows to the upper floor and a stunning sun room extending the ground floor to create an open feel.

Also at this development will be the superb three-storey, five-bedroom detached Cramond – a truly luxurious home offering a sun room plus additional space for a games room and fitness room – real flexible living to suit any family’s needs.

Red Lion is within easy commuter distance to Glasgow city centre, and Newton Mearns is recognised for having a number of excellent primary and secondary schools. With easy access to the M77 there are also good transport links to the central belt, the Ayrshire coast and the south.

On the east coast is Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ Millerhill development which is part of the wider development of Shawfair, an exciting project which will be delivered as one of a number of phases of expansion of Shawfair in Midlothian over the next 15 years.

Once complete, Millerhill will consist of a mix of 138 homes ranging from one-bedroom apartments up to five-bedroom detached villas, and 35 affordable homes will also be delivered.

The development has been designed with the aim of creating a brand new neighbourhood, around the Millerhill Community Hub which will provide a mixture or local retail and community health facilities.

Some of Mactaggart & Mickel’s most popular house styles will be available at the development including the three-bedroom Lismore, three-bedroom Broom and four-bedroom Arran villa.

The development will benefit from the Borders Railway and the newly constructed Shawfair rail station which opened in September 2015 and will connect residents to the heart of the

city centre in 12 minutes. Residents of Millerhill will also enjoy excellent road links due to the development’s close proximity to the Edinburgh City bypass.
