Striking Architecture

The new development will comprise just six bespoke properties with designs which will draw on the striking architecture of the original Mactaggart & Mickel Broom estate in the 1930s.  Once approved, the new homes will blend seamlessly into the surrounding Conservation area.

The centrepiece of the development will be the retention of the original features of the former bowling pavilion, which will be adapted and extended to create a magnificent bungalow-style family home. The exterior elevations of the other five properties will also reflect the style of the traditional Mactaggart & Mickel houses from the 1930s.  The entrance to each property will feature a slim curved canopy, and windows will be adorned with horizontal ‘astragals’, which were a favoured style of that period. Chimneys will be taller and brick detailing will be a prominent feature.

The development site is a much-sought-after location and we expect demand to be extremely high.  Mactaggart & Mickel Homes will be able to offer unique and magnificent properties bearing design hallmarks that are proven to stand the test of time.

Planning consent for the development was granted in August 2018 and we anticipate site/construction works to start in late 2019.
