  • MACTAGGART & MICKEL GROUP ANNOUNCE RISE IN PROFIT FOR SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

    One of Scotland’s leading family businesses, fourth-generation-owned Mactaggart & Mickel Group have today (31 October) announced their financial results for the year to 30 April 2018. The company, founded in 1925, reported a rise in profits for the sixth consecutive year with profit before tax up 11% to £14.2m (2017: £12.7 million) and turnover increasing by 11% to £82.3m (2017: £74.3m).

    Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ site managers Stuart Gillespie and Garry Henderson have been named Regional winners for Scotland at the 2018 NHBC Pride the Job Awards in Glasgow. Stuart Gillespie won the Regional award in the ‘Medium Builder’ category for the sixth year in a row for his Greenan Views development at Doonfoot in Ayr. Stuart, who started with Mactaggart & Mickel Homes as an apprentice three decades ago, has been awarded nine Regional titles in total, and this latest accolade is his 33rd Pride in the Job Award overall. Garry Henderson won in the ‘Multi-Storey’ category for his Milverton Grange development in Giffnock, the first award in this category for the Glasgow-headquartered housebuilder.

    Th​e IIP Platinum accolade is the highest level which can be achieved against the Investors in People Standard. Only 2% of IIP-accredited organisations in the UK – just 78 companies – have attained this standard. The award recognises the success of the family-owned company’s commitment to develop, reward and support employees.

    Pupils at Eaglesham Primary School have undertaken an exciting project to build a greenhouse out of recycled plastic bottles to grow their own plants, with the help of an ‘in kind’ donation of time, materials and labour from Mactaggart & Mickel Homes.
