Mactaggart & Mickel have been praised by business leaders in the South West of England after winning a prestigious accolade.

The company have won recognition from the business community in the highly-regarded Cheltenham BID Cotswold Life Business Awards following successful expansion beyond traditional Scottish heartlands.

Mactaggart & Mickel have been highly commended in the Newcomer of the Year category which acknowledges the company’s impact in Cheltenham since opening an office in the heart of the famous West Country spa town in April 2018.

Since establishing their office in Cheltenham town centre, the company have immersed themselves in the community in a variety of ways, including:

  • Sponsorship of a football team, Cheltenham Jazz Festival and Blenheim Horse Trials
  • Financial support for the Cheltenham Property Professionals network
  • Backing for the National Star College for people living with disabilities
  • The appointment of Joanne Casey as company’s first Managing Director of their Homes England division to lead the Cheltenham team
  • Through the comprehensive Mactaggart & Mickel & YOU initiative, staff are fully supported and developed, contributing to the coveted Investors in People Platinum accreditation

As well as support for local causes through the company’s Building Communities Fund, central to the company’s ethos is pride in delivering high-quality homes in exceptional locations.

This focus was highlighted by Contracts Manager Paul Starritt’s success in the prestigious NHBC Pride in the Job Award in recognition of his work at the St Jude’s Meadow development, Milton-under-Wychwood, Oxfordshire.

Belinda Hunt, Operations Manager at Cheltenham Business Improvement District (BID) said: “The judges of the Cheltenham BID Cotswold Life Business Awards were very impressed with Mactaggart & Mickel’s contribution to the local community. As a BID we see this sort of interaction as a vital part of a successful town.

“Mactaggart & Mickel have brought a lot to the community. The opportunities they give staff to develop through their training programmes really stands out. It’s important to recognise it’s the people in a business who drive its success and Mactaggart & Mickel certainly do.

“The company’s contribution to the community doesn’t stop with their staff. Since they opened their branch, they’ve got involved with events and organisations which help to make Cheltenham the vibrant place it is, sponsoring the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and supporting the local football club through their Building Communities Fund.”

Belinda headed to Mactaggart & Mickel’s English base at Cheltenham House to hand office manager Hannah Masters a certificate to mark the company’s success in the awards.

Joanne Casey, Managing Director of Mactaggart & Mickel (England), added:

“We’re all genuinely honoured to have been highly-commended in the newcomer of the year category of the Cotswold Life Cheltenham BID awards because we are proud to be part of the town’s business community.

“As a company we always do our best to make a positive impact on the areas where we have a presence and through our Building Communities Fund, we have been keen to give a helping hand to local projects and good causes in Cheltenham.

“While we aim to play an active role in the community, we put a strong emphasis on the highest standards of customer care and professional development and so for Mactaggart & Mickel to be recognised and praised by local business leaders is very rewarding.”

Thanks to Mactaggart & Mickel, homebuyers in England already have two opportunities to benefit from the company’s award-winning attention to detail and quality.

Homes in the new St Jude’s Meadow neighbourhood, near Burford, are all finished to the very highest standards, guaranteed by Mactaggart & Mickel’s ‘Seal of Approval’ checks undertaken in every home by a director or senior manager.

As well as St Jude’s Meadow, Mactaggart & Mickel have opened showhomes at Childrey Park, East Challow, where there is also a marketing suite.

The Childrey Park development is a stone’s throw from Oxfordshire’s lively market town of Wantage, with its independent shops, market square, narrow cobbled streets and passages bounded by historic buildings as well as an array of leisure and sporting amenities.

Two future Mactaggart & Mickel developments elsewhere in Oxfordshire are scheduled for Marcham and Drayton, both near the historic market town of Abingdon.
