Mac Mic Group Backs Carolside Primary Playground Overhaul with £3,000 Contribution

Helping create a safer, more inclusive space for children and the wider community

Carolside Primary School’s beloved playground has taken a major step forward, thanks to a successful community fundraising appeal—led by the school’s dedicated Parent Council (PTA) and supported by families, local organisations, and the wider community.

As part of this collective effort, Mac Mic Group, through its charitable arm, the Mac Mic Foundation, contributed £3,000 towards the upgrade, helping to transform the space into a safer, more inclusive and engaging environment for the local children.

The playground—used not only by pupils but by families and community members of all ages—was in urgent need of repair and improvement. The PTA’s fundraising campaign set out to create a space that’s accessible, safe, and enjoyable for everyone, and the results are already being enjoyed by the children.

Andrew Mickel, Director at Mac Mic Group, visited the school to see the finished playground in action—and even took a moment to test out the equipment for himself.

“It was brilliant to see the children enjoying the new equipment—their smiles said it all. This project is a great example of what can be achieved when a community comes together. We’re proud to support initiatives like this that make a real, lasting difference for families in East Renfrewshire.”

Kaitlyn Dynes of the Carolside Primary Parent Council said:

“We’re excited to share the first step in our playground update! Thanks to a generous donation from the Mac Mic Foundation, along with fantastic fundraising efforts from our parents and pupils, we’ve been able to replace our much-loved but worn-out active trail — and install brand-new swing bars too! The children are absolutely thrilled, and it’s wonderful to see the new equipment being enjoyed both during and after school hours. A huge thank you to the Mac Mic Foundation from everyone at Carolside PTA and all our pupils!”

The funding helped deliver new play structures, upgraded safety features, and inclusive design improvements—creating a vibrant and welcoming environment for all children.

This contribution reflects Mac Mic Group’s ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots initiatives across East Renfrewshire—helping create strong, thriving communities for generations to come.
